The essence of true love for others
What is the point of all the effort to raise our energy and increase our vibration if we cannot look at others with love? Looking without judgment at those who are suffering, at those whom life has led down difficult paths, because we do not know their story. Making an effort to feel the pain of others and believe that it is real — that is what transforming consciousness is all about.
Once, I was philosophizing with a friend in a square in São Paulo, when a beggar approached us, following our conversation and commenting on our reflections. I noticed that his words were surprisingly lucid and profound. So I stopped, looked at him and asked:
“What is your education?” Your comments are very pertinent. He told us that he was an engineer. He said that he became unemployed, his wife left him and, immersed in sadness, he started drinking. That was how, slipping down the steps of life, he got to where he was.
My friend and I fell silent. The conversation had changed direction. What was the point of all our philosophy, all the search for answers, if we are not capable of truly loving?
I once had a prosperous life — a company, a new car, a comfortable home. But, because of an incident, I lost everything. I was left without ground, without direction. In the midst of this emptiness, I rediscovered my own knowledge and realized that I could share with others what I have that is most valuable: my writing.
Today, all I have is you, reader. And that is enough to keep me writing.
