O Preço da Consciência

Hoje fui comprar um remédio em uma farmácia. Ao ver o preço, não gostei do que vi e decidi ir a outra farmácia — mas lá o valor era ainda mais alto. Voltei à primeira e resolvi levar o produto. No momento de pagar no caixa, o preço estava diferente, mais caro do que antes. Reclamei. Fomos verificar e, para minha surpresa, descobrimos que o valor correto era ainda menor. Comprei, enfim, o remédio.

No mercado, existem dois poderes fundamentais: o de quem vende e o de quem compra. Para que o sistema comercial funcione de forma justa e eficiente, é necessário equilíbrio entre esses dois lados. Isso exige consciência e responsabilidade de ambas as partes.

Ninguém é melhor do que ninguém neste mundo. Todos temos os mesmos direitos. No entanto, alguns se julgam superiores — e só percebem a verdade no momento do traslado, quando se dão conta de que o poder que acreditavam possuir nunca lhes pertenceu. Foram iludidos.

Cabe a cada pessoa que compra reconhecer o poder que exerce individualmente. Aceitar o que o vendedor oferece como algo indelével — como se fosse incontestável — é se colocar numa posição de submissão. Mas não somos prisioneiros do sistema: somos, muitas vezes, reféns da nossa própria consciência e fraqueza.

Today I went to buy some medicine at a pharmacy. When I saw the price, I didn't like what I saw and decided to go to another pharmacy—but there the price was even higher. I went back to the first one and decided to take the product. When I went to pay at the register, the price was different, more expensive than before. I complained. We went to check and, to my surprise, discovered that the correct price was even lower. I finally bought the medicine.

In the market, there are two fundamental powers: that of the seller and that of the buyer. For the commercial system to function fairly and efficiently, a balance between these two sides is necessary. This requires awareness and responsibility on both sides.

No one is better than anyone else in this world. We all have the same rights. However, some people think they are superior—and only realize the truth at the moment of transfer, when they realize that the power they believed they possessed never belonged to them. They were deceived.

It is up to each person who buys to recognize the power they wield individually. Accepting what the seller offers as something indelible—as if it were indisputable—is placing yourself in a position of submission. But we are not prisoners of the system: we are often hostages to our own conscience and weakness.
