Quando a Palavra Vira Protesto

Certa vez, fui convidado para assistir a uma palestra de uma escritora sobre um tema bastante interessante. Fiquei pasmo quando, no meio da apresentação, a palestrante — sem saber que eu estava presente — começou a comentar meus textos e afirmou que tudo o que está publicado na internet é de domínio público.

Fiquei constrangido, mas permaneci na sala, pois o tema realmente me interessava. Ao final, fui conversar com ela, me apresentei e questionei sua afirmação. Ela confirmou, dizendo que quem publica na internet está ciente de que está em um espaço livre. Mas isso, para mim, é fruto de ignorância ou falta de ética.

Foi a partir desse episódio que comecei, em 2005, a escrever no Recanto das Letras. Você pode notar que tenho dois acessos: um de 2005 e outro de 2023. Essa pausa se deu por conta de um processo depressivo que enfrentei após perder completamente minha fonte de renda. Achei que jamais me recuperaria.

Fui vítima de uma profunda falta de ética e moral por parte de algumas pessoas, que tiraram tudo o que podiam de mim e me deixaram sem nada. Infelizmente, há quem se ache no direito de tomar o que quiser de quem estiver ao alcance. Foi tamanha a revolta que escrevi um dos meus primeiros textos no Recanto: Moral e Ética.

When the Word Becomes Protest

I was once invited to attend a lecture by a writer on a very interesting topic. I was astonished when, midway through the presentation, the speaker—unaware that I was present—began commenting on my writing and stated that everything published online is in the public domain.

I felt embarrassed, but I stayed in the room because the topic genuinely interested me. At the end, I went to talk to her, introduced myself, and questioned her statement. She confirmed it, saying that anyone who publishes online is aware that they are in a free space. But this, to me, is the result of ignorance or a lack of ethics.

It was after this episode that I began writing for Recanto das Letras in 2005. You may notice that I have two accesses: one from 2005 and another from 2023. This hiatus was due to a period of depression I faced after completely losing my source of income. I thought I would never recover.

I was the victim of a profound lack of ethics and morals on the part of some people, who took everything they could from me and left me with nothing. Unfortunately, there are those who believe they have the right to take whatever they want from anyone within reach. The outrage was so great that I wrote one of my first articles on Recanto: Moral e Ética.
